Details for booking your accommodations for both weeks can be found in this document .
If you are booking accommodations at the Alishan Guest House in Glebe, please speak with the manager (Shiban). Upon reservation he will hold a booking for the payment of two nights. The remainder will be due on arrival. He will be out of the office April 24-27, and he would like to have bookings using the reserved rooms completed by May 17th.
The first week of the conference will be held at Sydney University. The best way to travel from the airport will be to take a train to Central Station. Information about timetables for the airport train can be found on the Sydney AirportLink site. From there you will have the option of taking a connecting train, a taxi or a bus depending on your accommodations. Dan Stinebring is looking to to reserving blocks of rooms near the University. Once those are available we will provide specific instructions for traveling to them.
The second week of the conference will be held in the Sebel Harbourside hotel in Kiama. We recommend that all conference attendees also stay at the hotel.Kiama is on the South Coast City Rail line. Timetables for the train are available on the City Rail page and typically take around 2.5 hours. The train journey is one of the most spectacular routes in Sydney and goes through the Royal National Park and along the cliff edges with great views of the Pacific Ocean (sit on the left handside of the train!). Track work takes place on some weekends and a replacement bus will be used instead of the train. This can be checked at the City Rail trackwork page.
Kiama can also be accessed by car. The journey from Sydney airport is approximately two hours using the most direct route.

With a little more time you could drive on the Grand Pacific Drive which takes you through the Royal National Park (mind the kangaroos), past wildlife parks, a brewery, wineries and large Hindu and Buddhist temples.
The Premier Motor Service also provides a coach link between Sydney and Kiama.
